Does your kiddo struggle to sit through a book reading? Does your kiddo love book readings? I've got you covered. This book reading event is all about having fun. I start with a book reading, and depending on the group, I may read the whole book or skip pages—anything goes.
My readings are not designed to be quiet, and sitting still is more of a suggestion than a requirement. During the book, we'll make silly faces and jump around. If, at this point, we lose a kiddo or two (or most of them) to their wiggles, that's okay. I go with the flow. The reading is an introduction to the book, not an in-depth study.
After the book reading and introduction to the silly monster, we move on to craft time, where the kids can create a very simple, quick, and easy silly monster of their own.
And if I notice that there is a little listener during the book reading, I will sit and read the book with them at the end. No one is left out.
